About NLBA

Who We Are

The NLB Academy (NLBA) nurtures people on finding and using information more effectively in their daily lives.  It was set up as a learning academy in April 2005 to offer continuous learning and development of NLB staff, and to develop independent and competent information-seeking skills for our clients.

Our Value Proposition

We have courses for students, adults, educators and library professionals. We also partner with interested people and organisations in producing info-literacy programmes.

If you’re a student, you’ll find our courses helpful in learning how to plan your project schedule accurately, conduct research more efficiently, make references to materials correctly and present your work more professionally. You can achieve more, faster.

If you’re an adult or educator, we can help you take advantage of the abundance of information available in all forms of media and use it to give your child and yourself a competitive edge.

If you’re a library professional, our courses will give you the edge in developing your skills in managing and cataloguing information.

Our Mission

To promote knowledge equity through leadership in media, info-literacy training and library professional development.

Our Tagline

Our tagline “Knowledge Understood” refers to the process by which our learners acquire new knowledge and information-seeking skills from our training programmes. Empowered by a set of skills in Information Literacy, individuals will be able to access, evaluate and apply information more effectively in their workplace, education and home life.

The branding, together with our mission statement, signifies NLBA's commitment to making knowledge accessible and available to everyone.
