Cataloguing Essentials Part I
“Cataloguing Essentials Part I” introduces you to cataloguing. You’ll learn how to create catalogue records and apply standards and rules, such as AACR2, LCSH, DDC and MARC. This course includes videos of practicing cataloguers who share about their work experiences. It also offers a list of useful resources and links to help you learn more about cataloguing. This course will benefit new cataloguers or those considering cataloguing as a career choice.

- How the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR) are used
- How the Library of Congress Rule Interpretations (LCRI) are used
- How the Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) are used
- How the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system is used
- How the Machine-Readable Cataloging (MARC) standards are used
Module 3: Creating a Catalogue
- Describe the basic fields and subfields of a MARC record
- How copy cataloguing works
