Since the tender award by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Aug 2010, NLBA has successfully conducted the Media Literacy Programme (MLP) across 9 schools (1331 students as at 30 June 2011) in its first year of inception.
The aim of MLP is to instill critical and creative thinking skills in the students as they play the role of Media Consumer and Media Creator. Here are some testimonials by the participating schools:
"Generally I’m very pleased with the training provided by NLB as the students were engaged and on task most of the time. Students also had good rapport with the trainers…. I could see that students enjoyed the final media product they created as it was a meaningful experience for them. I’m glad NLB course developer made the effort to design the project such that it is relevant, creative and stretches the students' thinking and skills." - Mrs Sukhev Singh, MLP Coordinator for North Vista Secondary.
"I like the part when the trainers used games to teach us Media Literacy, and that really kept our minds moving." - MLP Student from Bedok South Secondary School.
“I liked the part where we look at pictures or videos and talk about it. I like all the things they teach me, so interesting and fun, I love it. Hope they can come to teach me again.” - MLP Student from Concord Primary School.
“I like it when we go to the computer lab and create Cyberbullying media product.” – MLP Student from Yio Chu Kang Primary School
