Did you know that Google DOES NOT search a lot of information? Yes, especially information that is in specialised or local such as archives of Straits Times, or archives of old Singapore photos or even magazines and journals on the Asian civilisation or languages. So where do you search for such information? In Singapore we have the Network of Public Libraries that houses such information. And yes, you can easily search for such resources.

In this course, you’ll learn now to navigate the National and Public Library Network to easily find information.

Learning objectives

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the functions of the different types of libraries
  • Name the services and resources in the physical library and those accessible online via the NLB website
  • Use the library effectively by exercising their membership privileges
  • Locate and retrieve information resources from the library for their Project Work
